Liam Neeson receives first Belfast Ambassador Commendation

Belfast Lord Mayor Mairtin O Muilleoir and East Belfast MLA Sammy Douglas join forces in New York to present the first-ever Belfast Ambassador Commendation to actor Liam Neeson.

An initiative of the new Mayor, the Belfast Ambassador Award will be presented to ex-pats who are outstanding advocates for the people and city of Belfast.

Said the Lord Mayor: “No-one has been a greater ambassador for the arts and culture of Belfast, for its burgeoning theatre scene and its new film-making fame than Liam Neeson. But he has also been a tireless ally of the peace process and a standard-bearer for the transformation Belfast has undergone, I am honoured that he was willing to accept this Ambassador Certificate from myself and my East Belfast colleague Sammy Douglas MLA.”
