It’s fitting that we are in the Lyric for the launch of the SF campaign not because
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
But because the Lyric is an exemplar of the best of Belfast. The boundless ambition of its artistic programme is matched by its location — here on the banks of the Lagan — and its breathtaking architecture.
And the Lyric also represents joined-up government at its best with funding for this £18m cathedral of theatre coming from the Department of Culture Arts and Leisure and Belfast City Council’s City Investment Fund.
Inspired, therefore, by the commitment to excellence of this venue, I welcome you to South Belfast and raise the curtain on the Sinn Féin Westminster cast.
