Take Back the City Tonight

Take Back the City Tonight

Last night, I attended the tenth annual St Oliver Plunkett Lecture as part of the Féile an Phobail celebrations. Guest speaker was Archbishop Eamon Martin and he spoke about singing a new song for the people.

I’m up for that and put my money where my mouth is by singing not one but two songs at the Caribbean food fest at the weekend. But I have been remiss in not giving loyal readers of this blog their musicial fix. Therefore, in tribute to Snow Patrol and their upcoming gig at Tennents Vital on Wednesday night, here’s Take Back the City Tonight. With a nod of course to bass guitarist Nathan Connolly who joined me on BBC Radio Ulster last week to relive our favourite albums — him Achtung Baby, me Astral Weeks. If ever a city had an anthem, this is it.
